First week at the Florist

Well actually only the third day. But long enough. Yesterday i was pretty sure that I wanted to quit. My first day was grunt work. I lifted and carried and moved and washed. And realized that i know nothing about flowers. My only joy came in the vision of my new ass. So tight its going to be... and my flat stomach... can't wait to see you.
Also the first thing they gave me was a knife with my name scrawled in permanent marker.
The staff as i've met them so far are a diverse and interesting bunch of older ladies and a few talented boyz. One disgruntal straight stock boy, whom has zero interest in me or anyone in the building. Mona, an out spoken 50+ lover of the booze, is my favorite. She's been married 3 times and is now dating a 34 year old body builder with an ulcer, which is currently preventing them from their favorite activities, all which involved drinking. The second day, Sara was also working. She's been there 3 weeks, and has the attitude that destroyed my career at the sandbox. I want to tell her, but after all i'm sure she's getting paid 7 on hour and doesn't care. Lets for now place her in the most negative person i've ever met category.

But today, after showing up an hour late, and yawning my way through the first half a day, I had an awakening. After 2 days of watching and asking and doing the wrong things we were taught to prep the vases with greens. Something came to me as I was skillfully (or not so skillfully at first) using my knife to trim and cut these greens i still don't know the name of. My first couple attempts were not so right, but I was totally opening to all comments and had no shame in asking for help. Carolyn, the sweetest women ever, gave me a few pointers, and after a while I was really getting the hang of it. Soon i was placing the stems in the vases in the right places and as i carried them to the cooler Anne would say, "that one looks great". Really, thank you, i thought so too. Tomorrow i get to do some that have up to 4 different types of greens, including eucalyptus and eucalyptus seeds! I am going to make flash cards. I am go ing to learn the names of every flower in the business, just as I knew font names and paper swatches. I will work hard because this goal of designing something as wonderful and whimsical as Chip or Randy is in my heart.
I could do that all day. Everyone is there because they love what they do, not for the money, not to promote some bullshit condo, but just to make something beautiful for those that appreciate it. And boy do a lot of people want it, this business is booming. Marianne is a beacon of feminine entrepreneurship. I hope I make her proud.

At the end of the day we clean out the cooler, and everything that is too old to use we can take home. This is my arrangement made from home today, attempt number 1 at my new talent in the making.
